HOUSEHOLDING NIGHTS – The NFL will be getting some naughtiness during the NFL Night game on Saturday.
NFL.com’s Michael Rothstein reported Friday that New York Jets defensive end Sheldon Richardson will be fined $250,000 for being on the field during the first quarter.
The fine was part of a two-game suspension for Richardson, who also had a personal foul on the Cowboys’ DeMarcus Lawrence that resulted in a 30-yard penalty.
Richardson was also suspended for Sunday’s game against the Packers.
Richardson’s fine was not disclosed, but he was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct during the Cowboys game, which is considered the first penalty of the game.
The Jets’ Sheldon Richardson was flagged on Sunday for unsporting conduct.
AP Photo/Scott Halleran New York Giants linebacker Jameel McClain, who was fined $100,000 in a Week 1 game for getting on the ground during the fourth quarter of the Giants’ loss to the Rams, was fined again for that play.
He also was flagged in Week 2.
The fines were for the same play.
The Giants did not disclose the reason for the fines, but McClain was suspended for the entire 2017 season.
New York was eliminated from playoff contention with its Week 1 loss to San Francisco.
McClain said after the game that he was disappointed the punishment was so harsh.
“I don’t understand why it took so long to make a decision,” McClain told ESPN.
“It’s a shame because I’m a good guy and I do what I have to do.”
