A woman has been arrested after police allege she threw a child from a window at her home in Northumberland.
The 21-year-old was arrested in the town of Molesworth after officers were called to the property at about 8pm on Sunday.
The woman was taken to a police station where she was charged with one count of child endangerment.
She is due to appear in court later on Monday.
Police say they received a call about a child who had been left in the home of the woman.
The man said he left the child in the house with his sister, who he was with at the time.
Police said the woman was seen leaving the home and the family members were told the child was safe.
Detective Constable Rob Liddell from Northumbria Police said: “She was obviously distressed and upset and had been leaving the house for a number of days, and it appears she had put the child into the care of her boyfriend.”
The boy has since left for his own place in Northumbrian.
